Drain Cleaning Machines
Drain cleaning Machines come in different sizes. The bigger the size of cable, the larger size sewer line it can clean. For smaller lines like a lavatory, tub, or kitchen sink a 1/4″ or 3/8″ cable can be used for cleaning the drain. You never want to use a sewer machine that has larger than a 3/8″ sewer cable to clean one of these lines. Using lager than a 3/8″ sewer cable on one of these lines can result in breaking the plumbing or tearing up your sewer machine. For a main line clog you can use a 5/8″ or larger sewer machine to clear your sewer blockage. The type of cable used is predicated on where your access to the sewer system is. If your access to the sewer is through a pulled toilet you want to use a 5/8″ sewer cleaning machine because it has a lighter cable and it can make the sharp turns easier. If you have access to a 3″ or 4″ clean out then a 1/2″ or 3/4″ drain cleaning machine is going to be your best bet.
Hydro Jet
A hydro jet is usually used in commercial applications when you have a grease problem or a sewer cable is too short to reach a clogged section of a drain. Smaller hydro jets can be used in a residential application for grease problems or if a sewer line has a sludge problem. Hydro jet machines are basically high powered water hoses.
